Poland: Decrease in annual consumer prices softens in December

According to a preliminary estimate released by the Central Statistical Office (GUS) on 30 December, in December, consumer prices fell 0.2% over the previous month, which followed November’s 0.1% decrease and marked a three-month low. The reading was in line with market expectations. Consumer prices dropped 0.5% annually in December, which was slightly above the 0.6% drop tallied in November and marked the softest fall since September 2014. More detailed data will be released on 16 January.

Met the why particular Consensus Forecast panelists expect inflation to average 0.7% in 2016, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s projection. For 2017, the panel expects inflation to accelerate to 1.5%.
