Wool Price Outlook

Wool prices were broadly stable in October, following the surge in September. While rising demand from overseas markets—notably from China—is pushing prices up, this month, prices were constrained by exchange rate developments and concerns about the quality of Australian wool. On 6 October, wool traded at AUD 1,550 cents per kilogram. The price was down 0.4% from the same day of last month and was 14.4% higher on a year-to-date basis. Moreover, the price was up 19.2% from the same day of last year.
