Cotton Price OutlookCotton prices climbed early this year as mills rushed to lock in short-term contracts. Lower prices in recent weeks suggested, however, that global production estimates for 2017–18 have eased supply concerns somewhat. On 9 February, the spot price was USD 74.2 cents per pound, which was 1.9% lower than on the same day last month. Moreover, the price was down 2.8% on a year-to-date basis but was 1.9% higher than on the same day last year.
