Cotton Price Outlook

Prices plunged in mid-May as the U.S.-China trade war escalated, which will likely dent demand, amid a sprightly supply outlook. Although good weather conditions weighed on prices, beginning stocks were down in March compared to this time last year and prices consequently partially recovered. On 7 June, cotton traded at USD 60.5 cents per pound, which was 11.5% lower than on the same day last month. Moreover, the price was down 11.7% on a year-to-date basis and was 30.1% lower than on the same day last year.
