Coffee Price Outlook

Arabica coffee prices continued their downward trend in recent weeks on expectations of a record Brazilian harvest in 2018/2019 and increased supply from other major producers. Stronger production in the harvest, which began in March, is supported by favorable weather conditions and the crop’s on-year in its biennial cycle in Brazil. Arabica coffee traded at USD 119 cents per pound on 3 August, which was down 0.8% from the same day last month. Moreover, the price was 12.6% lower on a year-to-date basis and was down 21.8% from the same day last year.
