Inflation in Trinidad and Tobago
Trinidad and Tobago - InflationThe economy likely picked up pace in Q4 2018, driven mainly by a stronger performance from the energy and food manufacturing sectors, and amid solid private-sector credit growth. Moving to Q1 2019, economic indicators are still fairly limited. While LNG production was up in annual terms in the first two months, car sales fell sharply year-on-year. Moreover, private sector credit growth ebbed in January in annual terms, which could have dragged on private consumption. On the upside, the Angelin project—which became operational in late-February—should have supported the energy and external sectors.
