Investment in Macedonia
Macedonia - InvestmentRecent data suggests economic growth firmed up in Q2 and the start of Q3, supported by a strengthening domestic economy. Industrial production hit a near two-and-a-half-year high in June, followed by solid growth in July. Meanwhile, average gross wage growth accelerated in Q2, which translated into solid retail sales in the quarter. On the political front, the unprecedented referendum, in which citizens will vote on whether to change the country’s official name, is scheduled for 30 September. If a majority are in favor, a resolution to the longstanding political stalemate with Greece could finally come to fruition. This would pave the way for EU accession talks, which could begin as early as June 2019, and a NATO membership invitation.
