Trade Balance in Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan - Trade Balance
Preliminary national accounts data shows that the economy lost steam in 2018, with annual growth at 3.5% (2017: 4.7%). Slower gold production at the all-important Kumtor mine in the first nine months of the year, amid a logjam over environmental regulation, likely led the deceleration. In addition to faltering output, a slump in the price of the raw-material weighed further on external gains, with exports flagging in the January–November period. That said, officials seem to have come closer to agreeing to extend the mine’s license in the fourth-quarter. Meanwhile, mining reported a rebound in the latter stages of the year, possibly reflecting consequent upbeat optimism in the sector.Kyrgyzstan - Trade Balance Data
