Trade Balance in Kyrgyzstan
Kyrgyzstan - Trade BalanceThe latest data shows that economic activity contracted in the first seven months of the year compared to the same period last year, largely owing to a sharp drop in mining output at the all-important Kumtor gold mine. Manufacturing production also declined, but the fall was less dramatic. On a brighter note, fixed investment, construction activity, and hotels and restaurant services expanded at a strong pace over the same period. Consumer spending continued to grow solidly, thanks to an upward trend in wages, easing inflation and rising remittances from Russia. Lastly, while export growth was mild, the external sector made an important contribution to economic growth.
