Unemployment in Kosovo
Kosovo - UnemploymentThe economy expanded robustly in the second quarter, following a solid performance at the beginning of the year, thanks to a strengthening domestic economy. The acceleration came on the back of surging private consumption and double-digit growth in fixed investment. On the other hand, export growth lost steam in the quarter, whereas import growth quickened. Also in the second quarter, the government’s fiscal balance posted a surplus, an encouraging sign the government is committed to fiscal reform. Nonetheless, the budget deficit is still expected to widen this year. Moving into the third quarter, the trade deficit widened in annual terms in August as exports contracted while import growth continued, albeit at a more moderate pace.
