Current Account in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Bosnia and Herzegovina - Current AccountRecent data paints a less rosy picture of the third quarter than previously portrayed. The unemployment rate ticked up in July, after hitting a historic low in June, while industrial production fell in August due to a sharp contraction in the manufacturing, and mining and quarrying sectors. Moreover, merchandise exports slowed notably in August. Meanwhile, the country is gearing up for the 7 October general election, which has been fraught with allegations of potential voter fraud. The removal of certain aspects of Bosnia’s electoral law by the Constitutional Court has further complicated the election as, in doing so, the court removed the basis to form a new government both at the federal and state levels.
