Population in Austria
Austria - PopulationAlthough Austria’s economy grew at a brisker pace in the fourth quarter of last year than previously estimated, growth still slowed slightly from Q3 and is expected to have moderated further in the first quarter of this year. This is also attested to by WIFO’s leading indicator, which trended significantly below the fourth quarter’s average in the January–February period. The indicator fell in the period on markedly lower industrial production expectations for the next three months, which coincides with less optimism among businesses. Particularly, sentiment among retailers and manufacturers turned sour. Meanwhile, the manufacturing PMI continued to moderate through February and indicates softer improvements in operating conditions. February’s print was mainly weighed down by an ongoing drop in foreign demand amid a more challenging external environment.
