Fiscal Balance in Armenia

Armenia Fiscal Balance | Economic News & Forecasts

Armenia - Fiscal Balance

Growth accelerated slightly in Q4 2018, on the heels of a soft third-quarter outturn. A stronger external sector led the uptick, with exports accelerating and import growth tumbling. Turning to the current quarter, momentum appears to have gathered steam. Economic activity accelerated in January-February, propelled by robust growth in the construction, retail trade and services sectors. On a less positive note, goods exports plummeted by double digits in the same period, weighing on the overall expansion. Meanwhile, on 9 March, Moody’s changed the outlook on Armenia's B1 credit rating from stable to positive, citing improved effectiveness of macroeconomic policies.
