International Reserves in Angola

Angola International Reserves | Economic News & Forecasts

Angola - International Reserves

Angola emerged from recession in the final quarter of last year, as ongoing economic reforms and financial support from the IMF finally helped steer the economy into slightly calmer waters. A solid recovery of the construction and commerce sectors largely drove the overall expansion, more than offsetting yet another deterioration in the all-important oil sector where output fell markedly on an annual basis. Turning to this year, incoming data for the first quarter has been mixed thus far. Tumbling oil production in Q1 appears to have more than offset gains from higher global oil prices, which likely also curbed exports growth. On a more positive note, domestic demand strengthened in Q1 as a more accommodative monetary policy environment, moderating inflation and a more stable kwanza boosted consumer demand and investment activity.
