Exchange Rate in Albania
Albania - Exchange RateAlthough the pace of expansion slowed noticeably, the economy remained on a firm footing in the final quarter of last year to round off a strong year. Easing economic growth reflected softer growth in the industrial sector that was in part due to weak electricity generation in the fourth quarter. Activity in the construction sector, meanwhile, also slowed despite strong growth in building permits in Q4. Looking at Q1 2019, economic growth is likely to have moderated further: Imports of construction materials and metals fell again in February, while imports of electricity and fuels surged in the same month which suggests insufficient domestic electricity generation. Politically, protests continued into mid-March with protestors calling for snap elections over allegations of corruption and electoral fraud.
