Current Account in Albania
Albania - Current AccountThe economy grew 4.3% in Q2, supported by healthy private consumption and a stronger external sector. Private consumption was supported by a tighter labor market—the unemployment rate fell to a multi-year low in the quarter—while the external sector benefited from a surge in goods exports. In contrast, fixed investment growth dimmed, while government consumption contracted. Solid momentum likely carried over to Q3. In July and August, tourist arrivals soared and goods exports continued to expand robustly. Moreover, the fiscal position has strengthened notably in the first eight months of the year, boding well for the full-year outturn.
